FAQ:
- How is the custom artwork made?
My portraits are all hand-illustrated on an iPad creation software called Procreate. I use my apple pencil as a paintbrush to detail your pet's features into an original beautiful image.
- Who is it made by?
Me and only me! I am Christine, I live in Charleston with my two dogs and long time partner. I have 20+ years of prior experience with color pastels, graphite, oil, acrylic, and other mediums. Within the past couple of years I grew to admire digital as a medium. Not only do I enjoy the process, but also wish to recreate your pet in an art-form that can be cherished for generations.
- Is any artificial intelligence (AI) used?
No.
Feel free to learn more about how procreate works: https://procreate.com/ai
- How do I order a custom pet portrait?
To order a custom portrait, select the desired print size and style to come with the digital portrait. Provide any specific instructions/preferences for the piece (e.g., name included, specific background color or special details)
-
What product styles do you offer?
I currently offer prints with each custom digital portrait. Choose either:
A. Giclée print (A type of print known for vibrant color accuracy and fine detail; Archival quality; 300+ dpi; on 200 gsm thick matte fine art paper)
B. Canvas print (A traditional print on archival quality canvas, stretched over a wooden frame of 1.5” depth)
Ultimately I am working on partnering with a sustainable Charleston-based company to offer custom products bundled with prints.
- What photos should I send? How should I send photos of my pet?
Please let me know who I’m painting and send reference pictures of pet(s) to cblice24@gmail.com!
Choose high quality image(s) of your pet: front-facing, true to fur color and eye color. Photos taken at eye level with your pet typically work best. Avoid photos where your pet is in direct sunlight, covered in shadows, or pixelated. A photo of your pet on a cloudy day outside might be a good place to start. Send as many photos as necessary to meet these requirements. NOTE: I will send a confirmation email once I have all required information to begin your custom portrait/order.
- What do I do with the digital image that comes with the print?
All orders come with the original artwork in the form of a custom digital image (4500x4500px; 300 DPI) for you to keep forever.
Share it via digital frame, use it as your phone Lock Screen/computer wallpaper, or any special project (like pajamas or notecards). I do recommend coming to me to ensure high quality prints, however, at this time permit re-printing pet portraits for personal use/gifts.
- What is the turnaround time for a custom portrait?
The turnaround time can vary, but typically it ranges from 1 to 3 weeks.
- How are the portraits delivered?
Digital copies are sent via email and physical prints are shipped directly to your specified address within the USA. Be sure to inquire about shipping times and costs for any shipments outside the US.
- Can I request changes during the process?
Certainly. I will send a progress update or a draft for approval before printing the final piece.
- What happens if I need the portrait by a specific date?
If you have a deadline, such as for a gift, it’s best to check with me, but I will do my best to accommodate!
- Can I choose a custom background or theme for my pet’s portrait?
Yes, however, depending on the background complexity, I may charge up to $50 to add a background. Check in with me and I will work with you.
